Comics for knowledge, power for health: ComiCare empowers teens.

Project Overview

ComiCare is a groundbreaking initiative designed to equip adolescents in Nairobi's informal settlements with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed choices about their health and well-being. We utilize culturally relevant comic books in Swahili to reach a target audience of 1 million vulnerable teens over the next 5 years.

The comic book series tackles critical topics like Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), including HIV/AIDS prevention, safe sex practices, navigating gender roles, and developing critical thinking skills.

The mission and goals of our organization

Project Goals

  1. Enhance knowledge and awareness of SRH among vulnerable teens in Nairobi's informal settlements.
  2. Reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) within this population group.
  3. Encourage responsible sexual behavior and empower teens to make informed decisions.
  4. Equip teens to advocate for their health and well-being.

Project Activities

  • Comic Book Creation: We'll develop and produce a captivating comic book series in Swahili, ensuring cultural relevance for maximum impact.
  • Distribution: The comics will be strategically distributed to youth centers and outreach programs in Nairobi's informal settlements.
  • Awareness Campaigns: We'll launch engaging campaigns to promote the comic book and raise awareness about the project's goals.
